Eighties fantasy films hold a special place in my heart. There were a lot of classics made at that time with stunning effects, immense sets, sumptuous costumes and extra crowded crowd scenes. In my opinion, it was a golden age. Some may disagree but then they probably weren’t raised on Krull, Labyrinth, Willow, The Dark Crystal, Legend, Red Sonja, The Princess Bride, The Neverending Story, Ladyhawke etc, etc. I loved books of course, but the real depictions of these amazing worlds provided extra food for my imagination.
So you can imagine my delight to learn that wee baby Toby from Labyrinth aka Toby Froud aka son of illustrator extraordinaire Brian Froud has joined forces with Heather Henson daughter of, of course, legendary Jim Henson to make a short film called ‘Lesson’s Learned’. It’s been screened in Portland USA and looks like it will be shown in a few other places too. I can only pray it jumps the Atlantic at some point so I can get to see it.
Here’s hoping it marks the start of much bigger things from these two and some classic fantasy films for the future.
You remind me of the babe…
